Duties & Responsibilities

Sr Buyer is responsible of the purchasing activities of assigned Purchase Requisitions in compliance with Corporate and Project Procedures and under the supervision of the Purchasing Group Leader.

The purpose of the Sr. Buyer is to significantly contribute to the delivery of the purchasing strategy.

Main duties:

    • To carry out all the purchasing activities, according to the indications and guidelines of Purchasing Coordinator / Head of Purchasing Department, such as:
    1. Float of inquiries;
    2. Economical and contractual negotiations;
    3. Issue of Economical Evaluation to Project Teams;
    4. Cooperate with Project Teams in highlighting main reasons of eventual extra budgets and proposing mitigation actions;
    5. Issue of Purchase Orders and following Amendments;
    6. Expediting of Purchase Order acceptance by Vendors;
    • To support Project Procurement Coordinators during the development of the supplies in case of any commercial problem.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • University degree


  • Essential: experience as buyer, purchasing/procurement process. 
  • Direct experience of managing and networking with UAE local vendors
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of figures and be commercially aware
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in petrochemical /industrial sector/ EPC projects.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the specific discipline.
  • Similar role covered in last 5 projects of comparable size.

Skills and abilities

  • Proficiency of Procurement IT Tools (e.g., SAP, ARIBA etc.)
  • Able to deal quickly and effectively with large amount of information.
  • Well organized, methodical, patient, determined, used to stressful situations.
  • Attention to details and correct execution of processes. Rigorous attitude to the tasks
  • Sharp communication skills
  • Fluent English
