Job summary/Role description
|
Contract Engineer reports to
the Site Manager, or Construction Contract Manager , when present.
Contract Engineer is the first
interface for managing subcontracts at Site, ensuring that their terms and
conditions are properly interpreted and applied.
Additionally, he organizes the
documentation necessary for contracts modifications and final settlement with
the Subcontractors.

Duties and responsibilities
|
- Interpret and explain contractual
clauses.
- Provide
the certification required by contract for signature by the contractual
representatives.
- Check
that contractual obligations are absolved by Client and Subcontractors.
- Check
the expected final cost estimates against budget values.
- Check
Subcontractors’ Work Progress Status sheets prior to approval by the
Site Manager.
- Prepare
for the Site Manager’s signature the Works Progress Status sheets for
presentation to Client.
- Together
with the Supervisors, to discuss and where possible reach an agreement
with the Subcontractor concerning new prices, contractual amendments and
claims, preparing the supporting documents for formal issue by Home Office
Subcontracts Unit (APPAL).
- Prepare,
in collaboration with the Construction Manager, for the Site Manager’s
signature, the Field change orders and claims to be dispatched to Client.
- Prepare
the documents for the award of local subcontracts.
- Prepare
his section of the construction monthly progress report.
In
performing his/her activities, he/she may be supported by a Contract
Assistant.

Knowledge & Qualifications
|
- Suitable university degree
|
Experience
|
- 10 years’ experience on a similar role
in Oil & Gas, EPC sector
|
Skills and Abilities
|
- Good level of control skills focused on keeping an updated record
of all stages of the contractual change orders, from preparation,
through Owner's comments and approval, execution of works, intermediate
milestones, to the close out with the determination of the actual
- Fluent English.
- Excellent IT and analytical skills.
- Excellent communications and
interpersonal skills.
- Strong interpersonal, team-oriented
skills, self-motivation and direction, with strong bias toward timely
performance and problem resolution.
- Attention to detail, strong
communications and interpersonal skills.
